Bring the kids out for a shorter, family friendly fun nature hike at our Taylor Ranch Preserve on Sunday, May 28, starting at 10am. We’re scaling down our regular hike so families with smaller kids can enjoy some of the sites along the trail at this beautiful preserve. After about a one mile hike, we’ll head down to Raccoon Creek and end the day with an optional picnic lunch for those that want to stay longer. The kids will enjoy running around and playing in this peaceful area. Bring your own lunch and drinks please.
You’ll see some unusual rock formations and the gently flowing Raccoon Creek. And if we’re lucky – there may still be some wildflowers in bloom since we’ve had so much rain!
Here are some things you’ll need to know:
This is a wilderness outing in a natural setting, so there are no restrooms, benches, or water available. Please plan ahead and bring what you will need. We suggest you wear sturdy shoes, dress appropriate for the weather conditions, (we suggest long pants), and a hat and sunscreen.
Bring plenty of water, a brown bag picnic lunch and snacks, and a blanket to enjoy lunch down by the creek. Don’t forget your camera!
The hike is approximately 1 mile long, and may take up to 2 hours depending on the pace and number of stops made to enjoy the scenery along the way.
Difficulty level: this hike is rated as EASY, with minimal gradual uphill and downhill travel, on uneven ground and rough terrain. Kids above age 3 should be able to walk this without difficulty.
We have a “leave no trace” policy – if you pack it in, please pack it out.
Sorry, no dogs are allowed on our Preserves (unless service animals).
Participants must sign a release of liability available here. 2017-blank-liability-waiver-photo-release Please print and bring it with you.
