SORRY, THIS EVENT IS FULL. PLEASE CHECK OUR CALENDAR FOR OTHER EVENTS.
Bring the kids out for a shorter, family friendly fun nature hike followed by a picnic lunch down at the creek! We’re scaling down our regular hike so families with smaller kids can enjoy some of the sites at our Taylor Ranch preserve.
After about a one mile walk, we’ll head down to the creek to end the day with a nice picnic lunch. The kids will enjoy running around and playing in this beautiful area. Bring your own lunch and drinks please.
You’ll see some unusual rock formations and the gently flowing Coon Creek. And if we’re lucky – there may still be some wildflowers in bloom!
Here are some things you’ll need to know:
This is a wilderness outing in a natural setting, so there are no restrooms, benches, or water available. Please plan ahead and bring what you will need. We suggest you wear sturdy shoes, clothing appropriate for the weather conditions, (we suggest long pants), and a hat and sunscreen.
Bring plenty of water and a brown bag picnic lunch and snacks to enjoy down by the creek. Don’t forget your camera!
The hike is approximately 1 mile long, and may take up to 2 hours depending on the pace and number of stops made to enjoy the scenery along the way.
Difficulty level: this hike is rated as EASY, with minimal gradual uphill and downhill travel, on uneven ground and rough terrain. Kids above age 3 should be able to walk this without difficulty.
We have a “leave no trace” policy – if you pack it in, please pack it out.
Sorry, no dogs are allowed on our Preserves.
Participants must sign a release of liability which is available below. Please print and bring it with you.
This is a free event, however donations are always appreciated.
