Bring a mountain bike suitable for trail riding on rough trails with some rocks. The ride will be most enjoyable on a full suspension bike, but fine on a hard tail if that is your bike of choice. If you’re accustomed to riding at Hidden Falls Regional Park, the trail is definitely rockier and rougher than the trails at Hidden Falls.
Difficulty Level: This ride is Difficult and is not recommended for children or beginners. The basic route is 4 to 6 miles, with the option to add a few additional 2 mile loops on the upper part of the trail. The 6 mile ride has about 700 feet of climbing and each additional 2 mile loop adds 300 feet of climbing. Plan for about 3 hours total, but it may take less time. We hope to be able to ride on the new trail we just constructed depending on weather & other conditions.
This is a wilderness outing in a natural setting: there are no restrooms, benches, or water available. Please plan ahead and bring what you will need.
We suggest you wear clothing appropriate for the weather conditions, and bring plenty of water. Bring a sack lunch or snacks. We will stop at a few of the great view points during the ride, and at the end of the ride, there will be the option to ride down to Coon Creek where everyone can eat lunch. You may also want sunscreen and your camera. We have a “leave no trace” policy – if you pack it in, please pack it out.
Don’t forget your helmet!
