This month’s docent led hike will be at our Harvego Bear River Preserve in North Auburn. Along the trail you will enjoy the scenic views from a short hike up Bald Rock, an overlook view of the Bear River, and learn about the history of the cattle ranch in this rolling oak woodland savannah setting. This is a 4 mile hike and will take 3+ hours to complete.
Difficulty: Rated as moderate to strenuous with uphill and downhill hiking, uneven ground and rough terrain.
This is a wilderness outing in a natural setting: there are no restrooms, benches, or water available. Please plan ahead and bring what you will need. We suggest you wear sturdy shoes, wear clothing appropriate for the weather conditions, and bring plenty of water. Bring a sack lunch or snacks to enjoy along the way and your camera! You may also want sunscreen. We have a “leave no trace” policy – if you pack it in, please pack it out.
Sorry, no dogs are allowed on our Preserves.
Participants must sign a release of liability which is available below. Please bring it with you.
We encourage you to become a member by making a $10 minimum donation. Your donation helps expand our trail system and keeps you informed of our other upcoming events.
The event begins at 9:00am in North Auburn. Directions will be emailed after registration. The deadline to sign up Tuesday, December 23rd.
