MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN PROTECTING
PLACER COUNTY

Placer Land Trust cannot be successful without the support of local individuals (including members and volunteers) and organizations (including businesses, government agencies, conservation groups, and foundations). It is with this support that we've preserved our current lands, and it is only with this support that we will be successful in preserving more land in Placer County. Every nickel, every material donation, every word of support, and every minute of volunteer time counts most importantly to our efforts!

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP

The most important thing that you can do to support Placer Land Trust is to become a contributing annual member. Membership revenue supports the day-to-day operations of PLT, pays our staff, and funds the important project work that we do. Members receive our quarterly publication, Land Lines, invitations to exclusive and free events, as well as updates about our projects and our operations. Members are acknowledged in Land Lines and in our Annual Report. Please take a moment to join Placer Land Trust today, or to renew your existing membership. Thank you!

WORKPLACE GIVING

Placer Land Trust is a member of Earth Share of California (ESCA). ESCA is an organization of environmental nonprofits whose mission is to encourage workplace giving to support environmental preservation.

Many local employers (such as Hewlett Packard, Kaiser, etc.) give their employees the option to donate to charities directly from their paycheck, and many employers match the employee's donation amount. Ask your employer if you can donate to Placer Land Trust through ESCA or through a similar workplace giving program. If your employer gives ESCA as an option for workplace giving, simply select "Placer Land Trust" from the list, and your donation will be sent to us automatically.

This is a great way to involve more people in support of Placer Land Trust's mission, and an easy way to increase the value of your support!

PLACER PARTNERS: LOCAL BUSINESS SUPPORT

Local businesses benefit from the wonderful rural quality of life in Placer County, and there is no better way to acknowledge the hard work of PLT than by joining our "Placer Partners" program. Placer Partners consists of local businesses who believe in the mission of Placer Land Trust, and who support PLT through annual donations, in-kind services, and event sponsorships.

PLACER LAND TRUST LOGO MATERIALS

Display your support for Placer Land Trust by wearing one of these Placer Land Trust logo ballcaps!

Or show your support for Placer Land Trust by displaying one of these Placer Land Trust license plate frames on your vehicle!

These items make great gifts to other supporters of land preservation in Placer County, and help spread the word about our organization and our efforts to preserve our open spaces and farmlands. Please contact us if you're interested in a Placer Land Trust license plate frame or logo ballcap.

NON-CASH DONATIONS

Placer Land Trust gladly accepts donations of used vehicles, provided they are operable and marketable (meaning the vehicle runs and we'll be able to sell it). Donating a vehicle is easy; we'll do all the work and provide you with an IRS tax form with which to claim a tax deduction for the fair market value of the vehicle. PLT also accepts other non-cash donations such as stocks, mutual fund shares, real property, equipment, etc.

As a rule, PLT sells vehicles, stocks, and mutual fund shares immediately upon receipt, and the proceeds are used for general operating support. Donated real property (land) may be retained by PLT if it has high conservation values; otherwise it is sold to generate funds for other land preservation.

As a small nonprofit, we try to operate as efficiently and inexpensively as possible, thus making the most out of every donation we receive. Please contact Jessica Pierce at jessica@placerlandtrust.org or call her at (530) 887-9222 if you can help provide any of the following items from our wish list.

VOLUNTEERS

There exist opportunities for individuals to volunteer their time or services to PLT. For many projects, volunteer support is critical in ensuring that we have the people power to make them happen. To discuss volunteering your time or services, please contact us at (530) 887-9222. Currently we're recruiting volunteers for the following projects:

MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD!

Another way you can support PLT is by writing a letter to support local land conservation. When local, state, and national decision-makers face decisions about land conservation, your letters can have a profound impact! For more information, please contact Jeff Darlington at jeff@placerlandtrust.org or call him at (530) 887-9222.

Please contact us to discuss ways that you can help Placer Land Trust protect the beautiful open spaces and productive agricultural lands that make our County unique. We welcome any and all ideas!

As ever, your ongoing support is important and very much appreciated!
