The Stewardship Assistant assists the Stewardship Manager, Land Manager and other PLT staff with the stewardship of PLT-protected land. The Stewardship Assistant’s job consists of stewardship of lands protected by PLT, including property and easement monitoring, land and habitat management and enhancement, habitat restoration, invasive species management and volunteer coordination. Jim was hired as the Stewardship Assistant in August 2015.
Jim grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska; He graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a B.S. in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Natural Resources. After college he spent time as an AmeriCorps volunteer with The Great Basin Institute in Nevada, working on a Nevada Conservation Corps crew, and then moved to Arizona where he worked for The Nature Conservancy as a Stewardship Assistant, also an AmeriCorps position. After a brief stint in Wyoming he has landed here in Placer County.
“Having been able to roam the western part of the U.S. for work has given me a great appreciation for natural lands and the benefits they provide. I’m pretty stoked to be able to work on protecting lands here in Placer County for the future generations to enjoy.”
