CODFISH FALLS TRAIL PRESERVE, WEIMAR

Looking west along the Bear River.

30 ACRES OF PRIME HABITAT & RECREATION LAND ALONG THE
NORTH FORK AMERICAN RIVER

Placer Land Trust partnered with river protection group Protect American River Canyons (PARC) to preserve the natural environment of this beautiful stretch of the North Fork American River between Ponderosa Bridge and Codfish Creek, south of Weimar.

This property is surrounded by public lands, providing excellent opportunities for low-impact recreation. The site is situated along one of the most scenic stretches of the North Fork American River, with nearby public access for hiking, boating, fishing, picnicking and sight-seeing. The Codfish Falls Trail meanders along the river through the site, which was purchased in fee title in 1999. From the PLT property, it is a short hike along the trail to the magnificent Codfish Falls. PLT hosts annual "wildflower walks" in the spring at the Preserve.

The Codfish Falls Trail is an interpretive trail; naturalist brochures are available at the trailhead near the Ponderosa Bridge.
