Prime Habitat and Recreation Land
Codfish Falls Trail Preserve was the first property protected by Placer Land Trust, acquired in partnership with Protect American River Canyons (PARC) in 1993 for its many public benefits. Surrounded by public land, the Codfish Falls Trail Preserve ensures that the Codfish Falls Trail remains open to the public in perpetuity.
Riparian Habitat
Protecting habitat around streams and wetlands ensures that nature’s filtration system remains intact reducing erosion and keeping watersheds and our drinking water healthy and clean. The American River system is the source of much of our region’s drinking water, and protecting riverfront lands and headwaters are critical to sustaining water quality.
Visit the Preserve
Situated along one of the most scenic stretches of the North Fork American River, this site provides year-round 24/7 public access to hiking, boating, fishing, picnicking and sight-seeing. The Preserve contains a segment of the popular Codfish Falls Trail.
Parking lot and trail are part of the Auburn State Recreation Area. For up-to-date information, please visit the Auburn SRA website. Codfish Falls Trail is marked as #7 on the ASRA Topo Trail Map.
