January 2012

January 14 - Harvego Bear River Preserve hike

Docent led hike of our Harvego Bear River Preserve to Bald Rock Mountain which includes views of the Bear River, panoramic vistas, and other scenic views. This is a 4 mile hike, moderate to strenuous with considerable uphill hiking and rough terrain.  To get more information on the hike see our Preserve hikes page. February 2012

February 7 - The Last Crop film screening
7-9pm
The State Theater in Auburn
Buy Tickets: $10

The Last Crop is a film about one farm's effort to protect their land and the farm they have built over the past 35 years. Everyone who eats has a stake in agricultural land preservation as well as ensuring that we have skilled farmers and the infrastructure to support a functioning food system.

February 11 - Big Hill Preserve hike

Docent led hike that begins at our Taylor Ranch Preserve, heads onto our Kotomyan Big Hill Preserve and ends back at Taylor Ranch Preserve. February 22 - Volunteer Happy Hour

Join us from 5:00 - 7:00 pm to learn more about the volunteer opportunities available in 2012. This is a free event open to all past, present and future volunteers. March 2012

March 3 - Wood Duck box installation

Winter is just about over and it's time to get outside and get some fresh air! We will be installing Wood Duck boxes on our Taylor Ranch Preserve and Harvego Bear River Preserve and we could use some volunteers to help us with this project. This is a great event for teens! March 24 - Treasured Landscapes Hike at Codfish Falls

March - Broom removal day (date TBA)

This will be a fun day of digging and pulling out the invasive scotch broom on one of our Preserves. A great opportunity for volunteers! More information will follow so be sure to check back.



April 2012

May Day Trail Day - date TBA

Join us for a day of Trail Building and Trail maintenance. Great opportunity for volunteers to see our Preserves and help with keeping our trails in shape. More information will be available as plans unfold and we see what the weather will be like. Stay tuned!

September 15 - Great Sierra River Cleanup

Volunteers needed!  Join us for a morning of cleaning up watersheds in Placer County. This is a fun, kid friendly annual event that Placer Land Trust participates in that is coordinated by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy. For more information click here.

Placer Land Trust awards the "Placer Conservator Award" to individuals or organizations that enrich the quality of life in Placer County through resource conservation. For more information see our events page.
