March 17: PLT-Sponsored Conservation Easement Tax Seminar

Don't miss this opportunity to learn land conservation law from the West Coast expert William T. Hutton. Placer Land Trust, Nevada County Land Trust, and the Nevada County Bar Association are sponsoring a lunch and educational program for attorneys, financial planners and advisers, accountants, and land owners. The lunch will be held at New Moon Cafe in Nevada City.  Please contact Jean at Nevada County Land Trust, by phone at 530.272.5994 x 4 or by email at  jean@nevadacountylandtrust.org to get a Reservation and Menu Selection Form. Lunch including gratuity, tax, coffee, tea, water is $16 per person by check payable to Nevada County Land Trust OR Nevada County Bar Association. 1 hour MCLE Credit, if desired, is $10 additional, payable to Nevada County Bar Association.

April 3: Wildflower Tour

As part of the 2010 Treasured Landscapes Tours, Placer Land Trust will host community members for a day hike at Bruin Ranch. Sierra College Botany Professor Shawna Martinez will lead the walk on April 3rd.  Lunch is provided after each tour. April 10, 12, 15, 18: Plein Air Series on Bruin Ranch

Plein Air is derived from the French expression “en plein air,” which means “in the open air” and particularly refers to the act of painting outdoors.  Placer Land Trust is inviting Plein Air artists to spend a few days interpreting the spectacular and diverse landscape of Bruin Ranch.  April 12th and April 18th will be sunrise sessions; the 10th and 15th will offer opportunities to paint at dusk.  We are partnering with PlacerArts to display various pieces at the Auburn Art Walk in June.  View the flier for more information.  RSVP is required, so please contact Jessica Aviña at Jessica.avina@placerlandtrust.org to reserve your space.

April 14: Sierra Day at the Capitol

Placer Land Trust will be joining the Sierra Nevada Conservancy in Sacramento for the Sierra Day at the Capitol.

April 17: Placer County's Celebrate the Earth Festival

Placer Land Trust will have a table at the 3rd Annual Celebrate the Earth Festival, held at the Roseville Utility Exploration Center in Mahany Regional Park.  Stop by and visit us during the festival, or help staff the table with us.  If you are interested in volunteering, contact Jessica Aviña at (530) 887-9222.

April 21: HP Earth Day

Placer Land Trust will have a table at Hewlett-Packard's Earth Day celebration on April 21st.  Though not open to the public, we are looking for people to help staff the table with us.  If you are interested in volunteering, contact Jessica Aviña at (530) 887-9222.

May 1: Bird Watching Tour

The third Treasured Landscapes Tour will provide an opportunity for the public to spot birds on Bruin Ranch. Local naturalist Deren Ross and the Sierra Foothills Audubon Society will help lead the tour on May 1st. Lunch is provided after each tour. May 15: Placer Conservator of the Year Event, Auburn 

Save the date for this year’s Placer Conservator Award and Dinner.  The event will be held at Auburn Valley Golf Club.

June 5: Cultural Tour

Our last Treasured Landscapes Tour  of 2010 is a cultural tour.  Tsi-Akim Cultural Director Grayson Coney will share Native American cultural history and archeological sites located on Bruin Ranch. Lunch is provided after each tour. Third Thursday of each month, 5:30pm-6:30pm: Office Mailing Party

Stop by the Placer Land Trust office every third Thursday to hang out with staff and help us get our monthly mailing prepped and ready to send.  If you have questions about what Placer Land Trust does, are curious about other opportunities to help, or just want to hang out with some fun people, here’s your chance.  Some sweet snacks will be provided.  If you have questions give us a call at (530) 887-9222. 

Fourth Thursday of each month, 6:30pm: PLT Board of Directors Meeting

PLT Board of Directors meetings are open to the public, and are usually held in Auburn on the third Thursday of each month. Call to find out location and confirm date.
